The Department of Media at Cihan University–Erbil Participates in the 127th Anniversary of Kurdish Journalism
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, a delegation from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, led by Assistant Lecturer Azwar Qasim Agha and accompanied by Assistant Lecturer Hemin Amen Shwani, participated in the celebration of the 127th anniversary of Kurdish journalism. The event was organized by the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate and held at Sheraton Hall in Erbil.
The celebration began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by speeches reflecting on the history, development, and challenges of Kurdish media over the years. Two academic sessions were conducted during the event, led by professional journalists and university professors. The first session, titled “Media Reform and Regulation: Mechanisms and Proposed Solutions,” focused on strategies for improving media systems. The second session explored “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence and the Challenges Facing the Media.”
Assistant Lecturer Azwar Qasim Agha and Assistant Lecturer Hemin Amen Shwani enriched the sessions with their insights and actively engaged in the discussions. They also participated in several side press conferences with other attendees.
As part of the celebration, the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate awarded the Golden Prize to renowned Kurdish journalist Jamal Khaznadar, honoring his significant contributions to Kurdish journalism.
