The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Visit Keto Center for Practical Experience
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, fourth-year students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited a Keto Center as part of their academic and practical training. The visit, conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M. Hussein, aimed to provide students with firsthand experience of ketogenic dietary practices and their impact on health.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Barham Mohammed, the center’s owner, who expressed his enthusiasm for educating future nutritionists about the principles of the ketogenic diet. He gave an overview of the center’s mission, which focuses on promoting low-carb, high-fat diets for weight management, metabolic health, and overall well-being.
During the visit, students explored various aspects of ketogenic nutrition, including meal planning, macronutrient distribution, and the physiological effects of ketosis. They observed how the center designs personalized meal plans for individuals following the keto lifestyle, ensuring they meet their nutritional needs while maintaining ketosis.
Mr. Barham Mohammed also demonstrated how keto-friendly meals are prepared, emphasizing the use of healthy fats, quality proteins, and low-carb vegetables. The students participated in discussions about the benefits and challenges of the ketogenic diet, its applications for various health conditions, and the importance of professional guidance in implementing such regimens.
Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M.
