“The University Website is a True Mirror of Our Activities and Achievements,” Says Professor Dr. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil:
In a significant meeting held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, attended by the Vice Presidents, Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, and representatives of departments for website affairs in the VIP Hall, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, underscored the pivotal role of the university website as a primary platform for promoting and advancing the university at both local and international levels.
The President noted that all thirty scientific departments at Cihan University-Erbil maintain strong ties with the community, the working environment, governmental institutions, and the private sector. However, he expressed concern that the volume of activities and the website’s content do not fully reflect the university’s reality, its mission, strategies, and unique endeavors.
Professor Al-Delawi clarified that while some global institutions and companies publish significantly more data on their websites than what exists in reality, Cihan University-Erbil presents the opposite scenario; the university’s reality is far richer than what is displayed on its website. He attributed this to a lack of complete conviction among attendees that the website serves as a true mirror of the university.
The President did not hide his concern that some departments had only one activity registered over an entire year, though these departments having a large number of students. He stressed the importance of increasing activities and continuously updating the website, considering it the best way to connect with the external community and introduce the university’s capabilities. He stated: “More important than introducing your mission, goals, and job opportunities on the website is what you have done or what we are doing? This appears daily in the activities and news of your departments.” He urged department heads to continuously conduct activities to update their pages on the website, and to enhance the quantity and quality of their activities to reflect the university’s and its departments’ true standing and reputation.
In another part of the meeting, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi presented the university presidency’s vision for developing operations. He also instructed the heads of scientific departments and departmental representatives for website affairs to submit their plans for the new academic year soon. He emphasized the necessity of focusing on the quality of news and activities in their plans and adhering fully to the university presidency’s guidelines regarding website operations, activities, and news preparation. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of paying full attention to the college and scientific department pages on social media platforms and linking news in all three languages (Kurdish, Arabic, and English).
In another segment of the meeting, Assistant Lecturer Heman Amin Jalal presented an overview of the university’s activities over the past five years at both the general university level and within the scientific departments. The meeting concluded with an open discussion among the attendees and responses from the University President.
