Translation Department Students Gain Practical Insights into Real-World Applications of Morphology at Taj Translation Center
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, second-stage students Sarah Sardar Arif Salim, Mohammed Sangar Anwar Ahmed, Trefa Auny Adnan Nury, and Rawan Rashid Faisal Ahmed from the Translation Department at Cihan University–Erbil visited Taj Translation Center, an officially licensed sworn translation office in Erbil. The visit was organized under the supervision of the course lecturer, A.L. Zeena Mahmood.
The visit was conducted as part of their course to gain practical insights into how knowledge of morphology has been applied in translation work from the translator’s perspective. The students were warmly received by Mr. Sirwan Aswad Yunis, an experienced translator and the owner of the center. He began the session by introducing the center, the services it offers, and its organizational structure, as well as outlining its development from its establishment to the present.
Mr. Sirwan later provided detailed explanations about the different types of translation, the general scope of a translator’s job, and the importance of morphology in producing accurate and effective translations. He also discussed the key skills translators must possess, outlined the workflow and responsibilities within the center, and shared examples from his professional experience, supported by documents he showed to the students.
The students further engaged with Mr. Sirwan by asking various questions about the translation process and how translators apply morphological knowledge in their daily work at the center. All questions were answered thoroughly with examples, providing the students with valuable guidance and practical advice.
At the end of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude for the knowledge and insights shared. Mr. Sirwan also commended the students for their enthusiasm and keen interest in both the morphology course and the translation profession.
The visit was an enriching experience, connecting theoretical classroom learning with real-world translation practice and inspiring students to further develop their skills in the field.
