Translation Department Team Defeats Computer Science Team in Fourth Football Tournament Match
On Monday, January 26, 2026, in the fourth match of the mini-football tournament at Cihan University–Erbil, organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the Translation Department team faced the Computer Science Department team.
At the start of the match, both teams displayed a degree of randomness and lack of clear planning, making the game resemble a friendly match rather than a competitive tournament fixture, with both teams performing at a similar level.
In the second half, unlike the first, both teams improved their performance and launched more organized attacks on each other’s goals. However, the players’ limited experience led to missed scoring opportunities, while both goalkeepers stood out, playing a key role in saving most of the shots.
Neither team managed to score, and the match ended in a goalless draw. As a result, the referee resorted to a penalty shootout to determine the winner. As is often the case in such situations, luck played an important role. The first penalty taker from the Computer Science team approached the ball with hesitation and anxiety, resulting in a missed shot. This gave the Translation Department team the opportunity to convert their penalties and secure victory in the shootout, with a final score of 3–2. Therefore, the Translation Department team advanced to the next round of the tournament.
