U.S. Consulate General in Kurdistan Region Commends KRG Higher Education Delegation’s Active Participation in NAFSA 2025 Global Conference
The U.S. Consulate General in Kurdistan Region has issued an important statement regarding the active participation of a high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Higher Education in the NAFSA 2025 Global Conference. Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, as a member of this esteemed delegation, visited the United States of America and played a significant role in the proceedings of the annual conference and exhibition of NAFSA: Association of International Educators (NAFSA 2025), which took place in San Diego, California, USA. This conference is widely recognized as one of the largest and most crucial international gatherings in the field of education and higher education globally.
In this regard, the U.S. Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region expressed its satisfaction on its official Facebook page regarding the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and universities in Kurdistan Region at this global conference. The Consulate highlighted that NAFSA, as the largest international conference dedicated to education, will facilitate the establishment of communication bridges between higher education officials from Kurdistan Region and American universities and colleges, with the aim of exploring future joint projects and collaborations. This clearly underscores the importance of this participation in fostering academic relations between Kurdistan Region and the United States of America.
During the conference, the delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and particularly Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, conducted a series of important meetings. These engagements included discussions with the President of NAFSA and representatives from various universities and higher education institutions from the United States, European, Arab, and Asian countries.
The primary focus of these discussions centered on mechanisms to support the higher education sector in the Kurdistan Region in areas such as curriculum development, capacity building, fostering faculty and student exchange programs between universities, and securing significant scholarships for students and graduates of Cihan University-Erbil. These meetings represent a critical juncture for establishing a strong foundation for long-term cooperation and securing new academic opportunities for the Kurdistan Region in general, and Cihan University-Erbil in particular.
