A Charitable Initiative to Promote Social Responsibility among Interior Design Engineering Department Students
On Monday, March 24, 2025, second- and third-year Interior Design Engineering Department students from Cihan University-Erbil organized a charitable initiative to support the elderly residents at the Elderly Care House during the month of Ramadan. This initiative was conducted in alignment with Cihan University – Erbil’s commitment to community service and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The students raised funds and prepared gifts for the elderly residents under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed, reinforcing the importance of social responsibility and care for the elderly.
During the visit, the students distributed gifts to approximately 70 elderly residents, both male and female. This initiative not only brought joy to the elderly residents but also encouraged the students to actively engage in social work, fostering empathy and strengthening their connection to the community.
Mr. Sangar Jamal Abdulkarim, the Elderly Care House manager, warmly received the students and explained the services provided by the Elderly Care House and the needs of the elderly residents. The visit highlighted the essential role of younger generations in preserving social values and ensuring the well-being of the elderly, who hold a significant place in society.
Additionally, Cihan University–Erbil continues to play its key role in promoting social responsibility by supporting student-led initiatives that align with the SDGs, particularly those focused on social inclusion and community engagement. This activity reflects the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence, as well as ethical and humanitarian values, encouraging students to contribute meaningfully to society.
