ABSTRACT

This paper describes the benefits of the relay station to enhance network signal in rural areas, and the cost/benefits of using the relay, in addition, to review the standard activities of IEEE 802.16 in this field. The researchers find many results in this paper , the most important one is that adding the relay station (rs), to the IEEE 802.16 networks, improves many aspects of the WiMAX networks, first one is that it will enhance the capacity of the system, especially in the overlapped areas (such as in the shadow of a large building, indoor, or underground) and that places where the quality of the signal is weak (by supporting spatial reuse).
