ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT STUDENTS VISITED HISTORIC AKRE CASTLE BUILDING

On 22 October 2022 (Saturday), the Department of Architectural Engineering organized a scientific visit to the Historic Akre Castle building- Akre City, for 5th-year students under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sobeih Hashem. Akre Castle is located on top of the city’s mountain, about 450 meters from the valley.

Mr.  Baland Rida Zubair, the mayor of Akre, the engineers, and the directorate of the Historic Akre Castle building, accompanied the Cihan University- Erbil students and showed the students the general historical background of the city and the building of the Akre Castle.

The students were also exposed to the upper floor known as the Prince’s Residence, which stores food, and the lower floor contains a round meeting room and a flat rock in the middle. The castle has four pillars, a water tank, and an eagle-like room.

At the end of the visit, the students had the opportunity to ask questions about the importance of sanitary improvements and tourist attractions in Saray. Students also asked for information about the people who lived there and their way of life. The engineer answered the student’s questions politely.
