Architectural Engineering Department Students Visited the Arab Neighbourhood in Erbil
A group of fifth-year students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil visited the Arab neighbourhood in Erbil to learn about the field of architecture and how to restore historic houses and buildings.
During this scientific visit held on Wednesday (October 2, 2024), the students were divided into groups under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Rashid Hamad Yassin. Each group was assigned a different topic such as land use, building heights, building materials, heritage value, physical conditions, and economic value. After providing them with the theoretical information, the supervising professor explained how they could begin their work.
Each group began their fieldwork by collecting information about the buildings according to the specified characteristics. The collected information was later analyzed in terms of various aspects of the buildings, how to improve them, the principles of discussions familiar to field engineers, and the steps to restore construction and archaeological sites.
