Students Cihan University-Erbil participated in a conference and international competition held in Saudi Arabia over the past few days. In this regard, Abdelrahim A. Hunaiti, Assistant Secretary-General of the Association of Arab University, presents the trophy of participation to Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil.
On Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, the delegation of Cihan University-Erbil, three students whom led by Assistant Professor Merza Hamza Al-Murshedi, visited Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi president of Cihan University-Erbil. They handed over the gift to the president of the University.
In a meeting attended by Dr. Maysoon Al-Haideri, vice president for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ali Hussein, head of Biomedical Sciences Department and Assistant Professor of medical chemistry, Raid Duraid Thanoon, Head of Medical Biochemical Analysis. Dr. Merza Hamza, then, thanked the president of the University for his support and his assistance for providing the opportunity for students to participate in the competition and conference. Later, he gave a summary of their work to Dr. Amjad and said: “We participated in the fourth international conference under the slogan “Knowledge, skill & ability in Pharmacy and Toxicology” and also participated in the Arab Toxicology Competition Al Khobar, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the city of Al-Khobar. 26 Arab universities from different countries participated in the competition; including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine and the Oman Sultan.
Dr. Merza Hamza also added that as the team of Cihan University-Erbil, they participated in all the conference programs and three workshops, and their team had a significant readiness in all events in terms of questions, answers and participation in implementing practical procedures. He said: “on the sidelines of the conference, several meetings were held with the head of the delegations. We also held a meeting with Dr. Abdelrahim A. Hunaiti, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Association of Arabic Universities and he asked me to greet Dr Amjad on his behalf, as well as he praised the works of the Cihan University-Erbil activities in terms of scientific development and its leading role in community leadership. Dr. Abdelrahim A. Hunaiti also expressed his readiness to support our university and participate in our university’s conferences and scientific activities”.
The head of the delegation of Cihan University-Erbil explained that during the conference days, they had a number of meetings with participants of other universities, including Suleiman Al-Raji University, Jedda University, Sharja University, Oman College of Medical Sciences in Masqat, Benghazi University, Hebron University in Palestine, and Bhutana University in Sudan. Finally, he sincerely thanked Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil, for his continued support, his broad vision for building bridges of science and knowledge and spreading the message of Cihan University-Erbil internationally.
In response, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil, welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their participation in such an effective and broad way. He stated: Cihan University-Erbil, unlike other universities, encourages lecturers and researchers to participate in international conferences, and at the same level fully supports students at the local and international level to participate in conferences and scientific workshops.
In another part of his speech, the president of Cihan University-Erbil said: “We believe that students should not only attend the classrooms and laboratories, but also be familiar with university life and working environment, as well as raising their awareness, which is possible in many ways. One way can be providing opportunity for students to participate in meetings, conferences and workshops, whether at the local or international level. For this purpose, we have opened our doors and our support, whether financially or administratively to greatly assist them.
