At the launch of the book exhibition in Erbil, Cihan Universities are taking part.
The World Universities Cultural Foundation – in cooperation with the Erbil Public Library, opened a book fair in Erbil with the participation of numerous printing and publishing agencies.
Mr. Hamay Hama Saeed, Kurdistan Regional Government Minister for Culture and Youth, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Dalawi, President of Cihan University Erbil, and a significant number of intellectuals, writers, and book readers attended the event at the Zaytoun Library, the center of the Erbil Public Library, under the title “Coexistence.”
On this occasion, the participants initially observed a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs’ chaste souls before listening to remarks. In introducing Hama Hama Saeed, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s minister of culture, Kurdistan youth, and attendees of the exhibition, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Dalawi said: Book lovers and scientists of the cultural institutions of Cihan Universities are happy that, with the cooperation of the Erbil Public Library and with the participation of a sizable number of printing and publishing companies this exhibition has been organized.
The Koreans “carry a set of scientific and knowledge messages that we need to stand on, especially for us Kurds, who are thirsty for a brighter future,” he said. “If you want to know the history of many people visit their museums, but “If you want to see the future of many of them visit their libraries.”
The president of Cihan University Erbil discussed the relevance of foreign universities as prominent scientific institutions in the Kurdistan Region when he spoke about their function in the realm of books in another section of his address. Although it is claimed that book readers are no longer the same in this age of technology and new media, we need to be aware of the book’s role as a bearer of science and cultural ambassadorial. It has consistently boosted the pillars of culture and creativity in society and secured the future of nations. We take pride in the fact that, since the World University was founded, we have produced hundreds of books on various scientific subjects and have grown to be a significant source for universities, in addition to compiling and publishing a large number of historical books for our people.
The minister of culture and youth, Hama Hama Saeed, and the director general of the Erbil Public Library, Naz Faladin Kakayi, gave comments during the exhibition’s opening ceremony.
The printing and publishing firms from the provinces of Sulaimaniyah, Erbil, Halabja, and Soran have participated in the exhibition and are showcasing their products.
It will run for ten days in the Zaytoun Public Library in Erbil in collaboration with Cihan University Cultural Institute under the supervision of the Erbil Public Library. Some seminars and cultural activities are also being held along the exhibition’s fringes.
