Biomedical Sciences Students Explore Sunflower Oil Production at Banu Oil Production

On Monday, 24 November 2025, students from the Biomedical Sciences Department at Cihan University–Erbil participated in an industrial training visit to Banu Oil Production. The visit was organized under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M. Hussein.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Abdullatif Khalid, the owner and supervisor of the factory. During the visit, Mr. Khalid provided a detailed explanation of the sunflower seed processing workflow. The students observed each stage, including seed reception, filtration, sterilization, oil extraction, and packaging, with a particular focus on the cold-press extraction technique. Mr. Khalid emphasized that the factory relies on cold-press extraction because it is the healthiest method for preserving the nutritional value and quality of the oil.

The training offered students valuable practical insight into industrial processes and enhanced their understanding of applied biomedical techniques in food and oil production.
