Biomedical Sciences Students Organize Health Awareness and Screening Activity at Erbil Retirees Center
Students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences organized a health awareness activity for members of the Erbil Retirees Center on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Younis Othman Khudhir, Director of the Erbil Retirees Center, who expressed his appreciation for the initiative and its positive impact on the health and well-being of retirees.
As part of the program, held under the slogan ‘How to Live Healthier,’ the students met with center members and delivered educational sessions on healthy lifestyle practices. The sessions emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition, including regular consumption of fruits and vegetables, maintaining daily physical activity, and reducing the intake of sugary and salty foods.
In addition to the educational component, the students conducted simple health screenings to evaluate participants’ general health status. These screenings included blood glucose measurement, blood pressure assessment, and body mass index (BMI) calculation.
At the end of the activity, the center members expressed their appreciation for the students’ professionalism and their meaningful contribution to promoting health awareness within the community.
