Business Administration and Media Department Conducts AI Workshop
On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Departments of Business Administration and Media at Cihan University–Erbil organized an international workshop titled Principles of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Its Strategic Applications in Business and Marketing. The two-day workshop was held in the university’s Academic Hall and targeted both faculty members and students.
Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawd, Head of the Business Administration Department, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of the workshop, as well as the crucial role of AI in the business and marketing sectors. The workshop then proceeded with several presentations on AI in business and marketing. In this context, Mr. Ali Al-Jaff, Marketing Manager, and Ms. Mariam Zara, Human Resources Manager at Future Care Company, delivered a key presentation on the practical application of Odoo software. They explained that Odoo is an online platform that is continuously updated through the integration of AI. They further elaborated on the diverse modules of the Odoo system, which include Customer Relationship Management, accounting, inventory management, sales, purchasing, manufacturing, project management, and website management. These modules operate in an integrated manner, facilitating information sharing across various departments within a company, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing redundant tasks. Subsequently, they discussed additional features of the program, specifically highlighting the benefits and enhancements provided by AI in business, administration, and accounting.
During the workshop, Assistant Lecturer Azwar Mahdi Qasim, Head of the Media Department, presented the fundamental principles of utilizing AI in business. He emphasized that AI helps improve customer service and enables quicker, more informed decision-making. He also highlighted how AI empowers companies and organizations to boost efficiency and foster innovation, both of which are essential for remaining competitive in the market.
The next presentation, on the application of AI in management and performance, was delivered by Lecturer Aram Hanna Masoudi from the Business Administration Department. He explained how AI can be utilized to monitor and analyze employee performance in order to enhance it during task execution. Concluding the workshop, Lecturer Muslim Najib Zidan, also from the Business Administration Department, outlined the challenges that companies face when implementing new systems and technologies.
