Cihan University-Erbil emerged as the top winner Erbil province Universities in the Debate Champions

In the debating championships organized by the International Academy for Leadership and Development (IALD) in collaboration with the Rwanga Foundation, Cihan University-Erbil emerged as the top winner Erbil province Universities in the Debate Champions

To foster a culture of intellectual discourse and scholarly debate among universities in the Kurdistan Region, a debate tournament was held among the universities of Erbil province on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023. During the event, students engaged in multiple debate sessions and explored a variety of thought-provoking topics. At the end, the team from Cihan University-Erbil triumphed over the Lebanese French University, securing a place in the semifinals of the Kurdistan Regional University Debate Championship and proudly representing the Universities of Erbil province, earning a chance to compete against the winning Universities from Duhok and Sulaimani for a spot in the Qatar Debate.

The tournament, held in Erbil province, witnessed the participation of several esteemed institutions, including Salahaddin University-Erbil, Soran University, Kurdistan University-Erbil, Lebanese French University, Catholic University, and Cihan University-Erbil. The semifinals are scheduled to take place in late September, with the winning team earning the opportunity to participate in next year’s Qatar debate.

The Debating Championship serves as a platform for students to showcase their hidden talents and elevate their debating skills to new heights.
