Cihan University-Erbil Assistant Lecturer Visits Chengdu’s Leading Biomedical Innovation Hub and Intelligent Rehabilitation Technology Company

As part of the ongoing international training program on ‘Capacity Building for Primary Healthcare Services in Developing Countries,’ held in the People’s Republic of China from June 17 to July 7, 2026, Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University-Erbil participated in a series of scientific field visits designed to explore China’s latest advancements in biomedical innovation and intelligent healthcare technologies.
On Monday, June 29, 2026, the participants visited Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-Town Service Supply Chain Company, where they were warmly received by Mr. Fan Wei, General Manager of the company. During the visit, Mr. Fan delivered a comprehensive presentation on the development and strategic vision of Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-Town, a state-of-the-art biomedical innovation and industrial park established in 2016 through a joint initiative between the Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Shuangliu District.
Covering approximately 44 square kilometers, Chengdu Tianfu International Bio-Town has been developed into a world-class hub for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare innovation. The Bio-Town integrates scientific research, industrial manufacturing, clinical applications, and technology commercialization within a comprehensive biomedical ecosystem that connects universities, research institutions, hospitals, investors, and biotechnology enterprises. During the visit, Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed observed the Bio-Town’s master development plan, explored exhibits of pharmaceuticals manufactured within the park, and examined a variety of advanced medical devices, including laboratory diagnostic equipment and dental prosthetic components. The participants also toured the public innovation park, gaining valuable insights into the integrated biomedical ecosystem that supports research, innovation, and industrial collaboration.
The participants then visited Buffalo Robotics Technology (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., an innovative Chinese medical technology company specializing in intelligent rehabilitation equipment, where they were warmly received by Mr. Wang Xiaona, Office Manager. Mr. Wang guided the participants through the company’s showroom and introduced its advanced rehabilitation technologies. He explained that the company collaborates closely with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, utilizing research outcomes to develop and commercialize cutting-edge medical devices.
During the visit, Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed learned about Buffalo Robotics’ portfolio of artificial intelligence-enabled rehabilitation technologies, including robotic exoskeleton systems, upper- and lower-limb rehabilitation devices, and brain-computer interface technologies designed to assist patients with neurological and physical disabilities. By integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital healthcare solutions, the company aims to improve functional recovery and enhance the quality of rehabilitation services in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community healthcare facilities.
The field visits provided valuable insights into China’s integrated approach to biomedical innovation, healthcare technology development, and intelligent rehabilitation systems. They also highlighted the importance of collaboration among academia, research institutions, and industry in advancing modern healthcare services.
