Cihan University-Erbil Commends the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for its Decision to Uphold Students’ Rights
Cihan University-Erbil expresses its profound gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Federal Government in Baghdad. This gratitude is extended in particular to His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi; the Ministry’s Scientific Undersecretary, Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd; and the Director of the Private University Education Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Faris Mahdi Alwan, for their dedicated efforts and their recent decision, which represents a crucial and pivotal step in safeguarding the rights of students at private universities and colleges and recognizing their academic endeavors.
This decision is the culmination of intensive efforts and diligent follow-up by the administration of Cihan University-Erbil, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi. It was achieved through continuous communication and collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The primary objective of these endeavors was to ensure the recognition of the university’s graduates’ qualifications and their equal treatment alongside their peers from all universities across Iraq. The university invested significant time and effort in clarifying the importance of this matter, its positive impact on the future of our dear students, and securing their rights.
These dedicated efforts resulted in the esteemed Ministry’s approval, which was embodied in the recently issued directive. This directive affirms that students will be accepted and treated as graduates and included in central government appointments on an equal basis, particularly those who commenced their studies before the date of the previous directives, August 8, 2024. This decision clearly reflects the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the entire educational process and its appreciation for the efforts of students and educational institutions throughout Iraq.
