Cihan University-Erbil Held the 7th Scientific Conference Commencing with Track 1: Advancing Wellness Through Health Sciences
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Cihan University-Erbil officially opened the 7th Scientific Conference for Outstanding Graduation Projects. The conference sessions commenced with Track 1: Advancing Wellness Through Health Sciences, featuring Session 1, titled Bridging Diagnostics, Pharmacology, and Infectious Disease Management. The session was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayad Hazim Hasan, Vice President of the university. Held in the university’s Conference Hall, the session was chaired by Dr. Shaima Khamis Mustafa, with Bahoz Himdad Majeed serving as the Co-chairman. Track 1, featured insightful student presentations on health sciences.
Hawry A. Majeed explored the impact of contrast media on renal function in CT coronary angiograms, focusing on markers such as creatinine, BUN, and eGFR in 40 patients. Her study aimed to create guidelines to improve clinical practices and minimize the risk of renal impairment, emphasizing the importance of patient stratification for safer healthcare delivery.
Ghasaq Sh. Muhammed presented a study on the effects of Ashwagandha, Curcumin, and Green Tea on hematological alterations in benzene-induced leukemia in albino rats. The combination of these compounds improved hematological parameters more effectively than Ashwagandha alone, highlighting the potential of natural remedies in cancer treatment.
Majed M. A. Alhout shared research on the antibacterial effectiveness of Meropenem combined with Aminophenyl boronic acid, Cloxacillin, and EDTA against Staphylococcus aureus. His findings underscore the importance of combination therapies in combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Meran B. S. Almaree focused on community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs), identifying Escherichia coli as the main cause in 84% of cases. His research highlighted the growing issue of antibiotic resistance and the urgent need for new therapeutic strategies.
Rania A. Ali from the Medical Laboratory Analysis Department presented a comparative study on the efficacy of various antibiotics, revealing significant variations in their effectiveness and emphasizing the need for consistent quality control in pharmaceutical production. The session concluded with the recognition of the students’ impactful research. This event serves as an essential platform for students to showcase their work and advance scientific knowledge.
