“Cihan University-Erbil Holds a Special Position and is Highly Commended by Us” states the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
On Monday, October 20, 2025, Cihan University-Erbil organized a splendid ceremony for its 15th graduating class. On this important occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Kalary, Head of the Supervision and Quality Assurance Agency at the Ministry, participated as a representative of Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and delivered the Minister’s speech.
In his speech, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Kalary began by extending warm congratulations to the President and Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, the President and members of the University Council, and the teaching and lecturing staff. He then specifically congratulated the graduates and their families, emphasizing that while this day marks the end of an academic phase, it also signifies the beginning of a professional life full of opportunities.
Cihan University-Erbil Graduates: The Scientific Capital and Development of Kurdistan Region
Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Kalary highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s need for individuals rich in modern science and knowledge to serve various sectors of the job market. He stated: “We thank Cihan University-Erbil for once again preparing a cohort of graduates for the Kurdistan Region’s job market this year.” He also noted that graduates, with their expertise in crucial fields, will play a special role in society, as their professions are directly linked to the pillars of national governance, such as administration, finance, law, health, and many other areas.
Regarding technology and artificial intelligence, the Head of the Supervision and Quality Assurance Agency at the Ministry stated: With the rapid advancement of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) which has brought fundamental changes to the job market, the Ministry encourages graduates to become an important factor in the country’s progress through their dedication and adherence to professional values and ethics. “We hope you will play a significant role, and through you, the regional job market will see remarkable development.”
Cihan University-Erbil: A Leader in Private Education and International Standards
In another part of his speech, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education emphasized the historical and current standing of Cihan University-Erbil as the first private university in the Kurdistan Region, stating: “Cihan University has, from its inception, taken many steps towards the advancement and development of private education in Kurdistan, which is highly commendable by us at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.”
He also announced that Cihan University-Erbil has become a strong supporter for admitting students alongside public universities and expressed his pleasure that the university has achieved significant progress at both national and international levels. “In the latest international rankings, Cihan University-Erbil has secured leading positions among both public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, which is a source of joy for our Ministry and the Kurdistan Regional Government.”
Furthermore, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research pointed to Cihan University-Erbil’s efforts in designing its academic programs according to global standards, which has earned it several international accreditations. This is considered excellent support for graduates, providing better opportunities in the job market and making Cihan University-Erbil graduates trusted by employers, adding more value to their degrees.
