Cihan University-Erbil Launches the 5th Pedagogy Course for Ministry of Education Teachers
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the presence of Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and Mr. Burhan Abdullah Argushi, Consultant at the Ministry of Education, the fifth Pedagogy Course for teachers from the Ministry of Education commenced.
The opening ceremony was held in the VIP Hall at Cihan University-Erbil and began with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. The event was attended by the university’s vice presidents, members of the University Council, Yahya Reza Syed Gull, Director of Training and Development, Ministry of Education and a large number of teachers and educational experts.
In his speech, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi emphasized the strong partnership between Cihan University-Erbil and the Ministry of Education, which has continued for five years under an agreement covering the provinces of Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaymaniyah. He explained that higher education and primary and secondary education are inseparable, as graduates of schools become university students, while university graduates become teachers in the Ministry of Education. Therefore, separating these two sectors would create a significant gap in the educational process.
The President also highlighted the importance of lifelong learning and continuously updating knowledge in line with technological advancements. He noted that although he has held the academic rank of Professor for 19 years, he still updates his knowledge daily. He encouraged the participating teachers to make the most of this valuable opportunity, emphasizing that they play a vital role in shaping the country’s future by preparing school pupils to achieve a high academic standard before entering university.
In his remarks, Mr. Burhan Abdullah Argushi, Consultant at the Ministry of Education, stated that meaningful improvement in the educational process requires investing in the professional development of every teacher. He explained that modern educational systems no longer focus solely on content but also emphasize effective teaching methods that promote innovation in accordance with Bloom’s Taxonomy. He added that pedagogy is not merely a teaching method but an art of human development, requiring teachers to foster critical thinking among their learners.
At the end of the ceremony, participants received instructions regarding the allocation of training halls and classes. The teachers were then invited to proceed to Building No. 8 at Cihan University-Erbil to begin the first day of the course. The event concluded with the representative of the Ministry of Education expressing gratitude to Cihan University-Erbil and wishing all participants continued success.
