Within the framework of the humanitarian and sports activities of Cihan University – Erbil, the Department of Business Administration organized a marathon for children with Down Syndrome. Seventy-three children from different ages participate in this marathon in cooperation with (Awat Institute for educating minds). The main objective of the marathon was to shed light on this part of society as they are able to learn, work, study, practice sports, and coexist with the society if they have the appropriate support.
During this unprecedented sports and humanitarian event, Prof. Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajgar , the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, and Prof. Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, welcomed the guests of this event, headed by the governor of Erbil, Mr. Nabaz Abdul Al-Hamid, as each of them participated in this event by distributing golden medals to all of the children and distributing golden cups for the first three winners, accompanied with the vice-president for Administrative and Students Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Sattar Karim Saeed.
Before holding the marathon, there was a visit to (Awat Institute for educating minds) for the purpose of starting the preparations for this event under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Bushra Ali accompanied by the student’s activity committee members.
The marathon succeeded in drawing a smile on the faces of the children and providing moral support and encouragement to integrate Down syndrome kids with society. One of the most beautiful things anyone can do is to try to make them happy and stand against the attempts of some people to underestimate or bully them.
It is worth to mention that this Marathon was implemented with a direct support and supervision of the Head of Business Administration, Dr. Hawkar Qasim Birdawod and faculty members of the Department of Business Administration, in addition to a group of students from the student’s activity Committee in the department.
