Cihan University-Erbil President Secures Multiple Scholarships for Graduates Through High-Level Saudi University Meetings
Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, who participated as a member of a high-level Kurdistan Region delegation at the annual NAFSA conference for education and higher learning in the United States, conducted several important meetings and conferences on the sidelines of the event. These engagements resulted in securing multiple golden opportunities for students and graduates of Cihan University-Erbil in particular, and the Kurdistan Region’s higher education sector in general.
In this context, during a meeting held on Thursday, May 30, 2025, with several presidents of Saudi universities, Professor Dr. Amjad stated: “Our meetings with representatives of renowned Saudi universities were highly productive. These included King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Umm Al-Qura University—considered the oldest university in Saudi Arabia—King Saud University, Al-Baha University, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.”
The President of Cihan University-Erbil announced: “Two of these universities—King Abdullah University and Umm Al-Qura University—have expressed their complete readiness to offer a number of scholarships to students and graduates of Cihan University-Erbil. These scholarships will cover graduate studies at master’s and doctoral levels, and it is gratifying that 100% of the study expenses will be covered by these universities.”
Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi also indicated that during the meetings, discussions were held regarding strengthening academic relations, student and faculty exchanges, and conducting joint scientific conferences. He emphasized that all these universities have shown their readiness to sign memorandums of understanding with the university, and work on drafting these agreements is expected to begin upon their return.
Finally, the professor Al-Delawi mentioned that a delegation from Umm Al-Qura University is expected to visit Erbil city and Cihan University-Erbil, while an invitation has also been extended to a Cihan University-Erbil delegation to visit these Saudi universities, marking a step toward further consolidating cooperation.
