Cihan University-Erbil Representative Participates in the Huawei Academy Annual Workshop

To enhance students’ capabilities and align academic curricula with labor market demands, the Directorate of Information Technology, in coordination with Huawei, organized a specialized workshop for the leaders and supervisors of Huawei Academies across universities in the Kurdistan Region.

The workshop, held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Salahaddin University-Erbil Cultural Center, was attended by 12 Huawei Academy directors Assistant Lecturer Firas Mohammed Zeki, Head of the Software Engineering and Informatics Department and Huawei Academy Director at Cihan University-Erbil, actively participated in the workshop and made significant contributions to the strategic discussions.

The workshop focused on several key themes, primarily the role of Huawei Academies in advancing students’ scientific standards in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Extensive discussions were held on mechanisms to integrate Huawei’s international courses into the higher education demographics of the Kurdistan Region, ensuring students acquire modern skills tailored for the job market. Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the importance of student participation in the annual Huawei ICT Competition, recognizing it as a premier platform for Kurdish talent to excel at both the local and international levels. Through its on-campus Huawei Academy, Cihan University-Erbil remains committed to providing cutting-edge educational resources to keep pace with rapid technological advancements.
