The Cihan University-Erbil Scientific Journal has made notable progress in the 2026 Arab Impact Factor report.
Its impact factor rose from 1.3 to 2.09, an increase of more than 60%. With this rise, the journal moved from the third quartile (Q3) to the second quartile (Q2), joining the most influential peer-reviewed scientific journals in the Arab world.
This achievement coincides with the advancement of the Cihan University-Erbil Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences to the same quartile.
The university now has two journals ranked in Q2 in this year’s report, a sign of the growth of its academic publishing system and the success of its policy of supporting rigorous research.
Several factors drove this progress, chiefly higher standards for acceptance and peer review, a regular publication schedule, and the attraction of high-quality research from Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and beyond. Citations of the journal’s published articles in subsequent studies have also increased.
The Arab Impact Factor is one of the main indicators that researchers and academic institutions use to evaluate Arab scholarly journals and choose reliable publication venues.
Moving up to Q2 opens wider horizons for the journal, and its editorial board is now working toward the first quartile (Q1) and greater visibility in international databases and indexes.
Cihan University-Erbil congratulated the journal’s editorial board, reviewers and all the researchers who contributed to this achievement.
It also invited academics to keep submitting their original research to the journal, strengthening its standing and advancing scientific research.
