Cihan University-Erbil Secures Top Three Competition Awards in the Kingdom of Thailand Activities
Within the framework of the Kingdom of Thailand’s activities, held under the title “The Essence of Thailand: Discovering Hidden Aesthetics and Memories,” and organized in the Conference Hall by Cihan University – Erbil in coordination with the Directorate of Asian and Australian Affairs at the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Cihan University-Erbil students successfully achieved first place in most of the competition activities among university participants.
A project presentation competition was held for students from Salahaddin University-Erbil, Tishk International University, and Cihan University-Erbil. Seven teams participated in the competition, with Cihan University-Erbil entering three teams and securing the top three positions as follows:
The team that secured first place in the competition consisted of the following students:
- Taha Ahmed Abd Aoun (Department of Software Engineering and Informatics)
- Mayasa Yassir and Yasmin Omar (Department of Biomedical Sciences)
- Russul Ghassan (Department of Nutrition and Dietetics)
This team presented a project titled “Tom Yum Soup: A Taste That Brings People Together,” discussing traditional Thai cuisine and linking it to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The project was prepared and presented under the supervision of Dr. Salih Mustafa Salih Zebari from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
The team that secured second place in the competition consisted of the following students:
- Mazin Sherwan Mustafa (Department of General Education)
- Hajer Raoof Samko and Maryam Abdulbari Alali (Department of Translation)
This Cihan University – Erbil team presented a project titled “Sukhothai,” showcasing the aesthetic and cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Thailand. Their project was prepared and presented under the supervision of Dr. Hassam.
Similarly, the team that secured third place in the competition consisted of the following students:
- Mahmood Shakir (Department of Accounting)
- Fanan Wissam (Department of Biomedical Sciences)
- Sozyar Rebwar Asaad (Department of Radiological Imaging Techniques)
- Sidra Nihad (Department of Business Administration)
This team’s project was titled “Chiang Rai,” highlighting the tourist, artistic, and traditional aspects of the city of Chiang Rai. The project was prepared and presented under the supervision of Dr. Qusay Hamid Jasim from the Department of Business Administration.
At the end of the competition, which was attended by Professor Dr. Ayad Kakayee, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, along with a number of faculty members, staff from the Thai Embassy, and several guests, Supark Pronghorn, the Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan and Non-Resident Ambassador to Iraq, presented certificates of appreciation and monetary prizes to the winning teams and participants.
