Cihan University – Erbil Students Attend Mental Health Awareness Workshop
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, six students from the Department of General Education / ELT—Shewar Ruzhdi, Shano Rushdi, Gashbin Ghafour, Zhila Hasan, Mardin Sherzad, and Renas Elias attended an insightful mental health awareness workshop held at the Youth Hub Conference Hall under the supervision of Dr. Rozhan Ali Khdir.
The workshop featured specialized sessions delivered by three speakers, focusing on essential aspects of psychological well-being, stress management, and emotional resilience.
- Ms. Sozy Sttar opened the workshop by examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior during stressful situations. She explained the cognitive and physical effects of stress and highlighted the key differences between positive stress (eustress) and negative stress (distress).
- Mr. Daryaz Dilshad provided practical guidance on psychological first aid for individuals experiencing acute stress. He introduced effective relaxation techniques and demonstrated step-by-step methods that students can use to regain composure during overwhelming moments.
- Dr. Zana Ahmed Qasab concluded the workshop with a presentation on self-awareness, self-love, and emotional resilience. He emphasized several core pillars of personal growth, including managing and expressing emotions effectively, fostering strong social connections, practicing self-acceptance, taking responsibility for one’s actions, and setting healthy boundaries to maintain personal well-being.
The workshop provided the students with practical tools and valuable strategies to manage stress, strengthen emotional resilience, and promote greater awareness of mental health in their academic and personal lives.
