Cihan University-Erbil Students Participate in a Civic Solidarity March for Rojava in Warsaw
Within the framework of international civic and humanitarian engagement, students from Cihan University–Erbil who recently completed an academic course as part of a student exchange program at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Poland participated in a civic activity in solidarity with the Rojava region (Western Kurdistan).
On Friday, January 30, 2026, students Ibrahim Zaki Mohammed Salih (second year, Physiotherapy Department) and Marwan Mohammed Ahmed (second year, Nutrition and Dietetics Department) took part in a peaceful march in the Polish capital, Warsaw. The participants raised the Kurdistan flag and chanted the slogan ‘Free Rojava – March for Peace and Freedom’ as they marched from the U.S. Embassy to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The march aimed to convey a message of peace and to advocate for the protection of human rights in Western Kurdistan.
The event attracted wide participation from international university students and Warsaw residents representing diverse cultural and national backgrounds. Participants stood united to emphasize universal humanitarian values and international solidarity with Rojava, reflecting a shared commitment to coexistence and peace. The march also served as an effective civic platform for conveying the voices of human rights advocates to diplomatic institutions and the broader international community.
Beyond their academic achievements in Poland, the participation of Cihan University–Erbil students in this civic event highlights their strong commitment to human rights and intercultural dialogue. The experience provided a meaningful opportunity for peaceful expression and the respectful delivery of humanitarian messages. Moreover, it contributed to the development of social responsibility and collective action among students, reinforcing the importance of international solidarity as a key element in promoting peace and stability in Rojava and worldwide.
