On Monday, June 22, 2026, the second cohort of Cihan University–Erbil students officially commenced the first day of the advanced training course on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Palacký University Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
The scientific program began with a theoretical lecture on the core concepts and principles of HSE, delivered by international expert Dr. Pavel Spirov. Following the lecture, the students participated in practical field activities, during which Dr. Spirov guided them on a technical tour of various university departments. The tour provided students with firsthand insights into modern laboratory safety systems and the management of sensitive technical areas in accordance with the latest scientific protocols.
In addition to the academic sessions, and as part of the Cultural Exchange Program, the students participated in a field trip to explore the historic landmarks of Olomouc. They visited the city’s ancient architectural sites and the renowned Saint Wenceslas Cathedral, gaining a deeper understanding of the Czech Republic’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
The participating student group, selected based on academic excellence, includes Mina Hussein Karim 3rd year, Biomedical Sciences), Kamgar Sarhang Mustafa and Ismail Qadir Azzat (4th year, Anesthesia Techniques), and Hardi Obaid Rafiq (graduate, Community Health Nursing). The group departed from Erbil International Airport on Sunday, June 21, 2026, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established between Cihan University–Erbil and Palacký University Olomouc.
