Cihan University-Erbil Students Participate in World Arabic Language Day Workshop in Poland
Students from Cihan University-Erbil, currently undertaking a study course at the University of Lodz in Poland, participated in a specialized workshop on Monday, November 17, 2025, in observance of World Arabic Language Day.
The workshop, held at the Library of the University of Lodz, Poland, featured in-depth discussions by experts and specialists on the richness and breadth of the Arabic language. It was highlighted that Arabic is one of the oldest and most extensive Semitic languages in terms of vocabulary and structure. Speakers also delved into the origins of numerous Arabic words and their evolution throughout history, alongside an exploration of the cultural and linguistic influences that have shaped the language’s identity over centuries.
Another segment of the workshop focused on the number of Arab countries across Asia and Africa, noting the diversity of dialects from one nation to another. Distinct analyses were presented comparing various dialects and common names within the Arab world, captivating the interest of foreign guests and students who are studying Arabic or possess a background in the language.
The workshop also touched upon the ancient history of Iraq, pointing out some of its civilizational and cultural characteristics and its significant role in establishing Arabic sciences and literature. Cihan University-Erbil students, namely Seedra Nihad Isshaq , Raya Ameer Aljabbar, and Avin Raad Mohammed, all fourth-year students in the Business Administration department, actively contributed to the workshop discussions.
