Cihan University-Erbil Successfully Hosts International Workshop on Breast Cancer
The Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil successfully hosted a significant international workshop titled “Think Pink: Together We Fight Breast Cancer” on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
The workshop, held in the VIP Hall of Cihan University-Erbil, was attended by a number of leading academics, healthcare specialists, and medical professionals from key organizations focused on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and research. The event began with a welcoming address, followed by the workshop activities. Professor Dr. Usha Rani Kandula from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil presented a topic on “Warning Signs of Breast Cancer: What Every Woman Should Know.” Her presentation emphasized the importance of early detection and regular self-examination.
Following this, Dr. Hanan Jawad Kadhum from the Kurdistan Board for Medical Specialties presented her research on “The Gut Microbiome and Breast Cancer: Emerging Links, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Perspectives.” Her research delved into the complex connections between gut health and breast cancer, opening new avenues for understanding and treatment.
In the final section of the workshop, Professor Dr. Aspin R, Director of Fathima College of Nursing, Uttar Pradesh, India, discussed “Healthy Lifestyle Choices to Reduce Breast Cancer Risk.” His presentation included practical advice on diet, exercise, and other lifestyle modifications crucial for prevention.
The workshop concluded with a speech by Assistant Lecturer Sarwan Wasman, Head of the Community Health Nursing Department, who thanked the attendees for their active participation and expressed hope for the continuation of such activities.
