Cihan University-Erbil Ranks the First Among Private Universities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the EduRank.org International Rankings
Cihan University-Erbil has achieved a significant international scientific milestone by securing the top position among all private universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, according to the latest rankings by the independent global institution (EduRank.org ).
This international recognition further solidifies Cihan University-Erbil’s standing as a leading hub for higher education in the region. According to the ranking data, Cihan University-Erbil ranks first among all private universities in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, it secured the fourth position among all public and private universities across the region combined.
On a national level, the university came in the first among all private universities in Kurdistan Region and Iraq as well. It achieved a remarkable accomplishment by ranking 15th among all public and private universities throughout Iraq. This international evaluation serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence, high-quality research, and its adherence to global standards in higher education. On a broader scale, the university was ranked 2164th in all of Asia and 5886th in the world, standing out among over 14,000 higher education institutions evaluated globally.

The recognition places Cihan University-Erbil as a key player in the region’s academic landscape, outperforming numerous public and private institutions.
The rankings reflect the university’s robust research profile. Data from EduRank indicates that Cihan University-Erbil has published thousands of scientific papers, with particularly strong output in the fields of Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This research productivity has resulted in over 21,000 academic citations, demonstrating the global impact of the university’s scholarly work.
