Cihan University-Erbil Translation Department Students Visit Amazon Library

The Cihan University-Erbil Translation Department organized a scientific visit to Amazon Library on Monday, February 10, 2025, under the supervision of A.L. Imadin Maged Muhammad, and with the participation of a group of sophomore and senior students, as part of the scientific activities aimed at developing students’ skills in research and translation.

The students were received by Mr. Manaf, manager of Amazon Library, who in turn spoke about the nature of the books and sources available in the library, and how to choose appropriate references for translation and academic research purposes, in addition to talking about the different methods of academic sources, including APA and MLA. Mr. Manaf also reviewed the importance of libraries in supporting translators and researchers by providing them with books and specialized magazines in various fields. Mr. Manaf also answered students’ questions related to the printing and publishing mechanisms and copyright, which enriched students with more knowledge in the labor market.

During the visit, the students were given the opportunity to have a tour around the library lanes and browse a wide range of books, in addition to discussing the most prominent challenges facing translators in searching for reliable sources. The role of artificial intelligence in facilitating access to digital books and modern references was also discussed, which enhances students’ ability to develop their research skills.

At the end of the visit, the students thanked Amazon Library for hosting them and to the department’s management for organizing this visit, which provided them with a practical opportunity to gain knowledge about academic sources and their importance in improving translation and research skills.
