Cihan University-Erbil’s 7th Scientific Conference Graduation Projects of the English Language, Translation, General Education and Physical Education Departments
On 27th and 28th of April, 2025, at the 7th Scientific Conference for Outstanding Graduation Projects, seniors from the English Language Department at Cihan University-Erbil demonstrated outstanding academic and critical skills through a variety of literary and linguistic studies. Projects included a powerful exploration of racial identity and societal invisibility in Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man by Laylav Abdulkareem Omar, Dezhwar Woshyar Mustafa, Ahmad Abduljabbar, and Barzan Shirwan Fariq, and a sociolinguistic investigation of The Impact of Age, Ethnicity, and Social Class on Language Use by Rawa Ihab Abdulazeez, Lina Burhan Mohammed, and Shvan Mohammed Hossein. Additionally, Evet Jalil Ibrahim, Doa Hatem Obeid, and Abdullateef Naseef Jasim examined themes of identity crisis in Toni Morrison’s Beloved, while Ryam Mohammad Jabir, Mohammad Awdal, Abdulraheem Abdulrahman, and Ali Hussain addressed phonetic challenges in English learning in their study Navigating the Soundscape: Challenges and Strategies for Enhancing Phonetic Skills for English Learners. Their contributions reflected deep critical thinking and a commitment to advancing understanding in English literature and language studies.
Senior candidate students of Translation Department made remarkable contributions to the conference by presenting critical literary analyses rooted in translation studies. Wed Haider Noori, Sima Othman Omer, and Sima Yousif Kareem explored the complexities of free will and ethical dilemmas through their study The Dilemma of Free Will in Jojo Moyes’s Me Before You. Meanwhile, Mohammed Emad Khalil, Ghofran Shakir Jafaar, and Mustafa Jasim Mohammed offered a compelling examination of narrative structure and thematic depth in their project Narrative Technique in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. The Translation Department’s participation highlighted the students’ strong analytical abilities, their engagement with major literary works, and their ability to link translation with critical interpretation.
Department of General Education showcased a diverse and dynamic range of research addressing educational challenges, technological advancements, and student well-being. Projects included an in-depth investigation into Teachers’ and Students’ Perspectives on the Educational Potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Cihan University by Mihraban Mohammed Abdullah Ahmad, Zainab Khalid Abdulali Zbary, Helen Kawkaz Mohammed Ismail, Bnar Abdulstar Yousif Ahmed, Duaa Tahsen Hasan Ibrahim, as well as studies on Tackling the Challenges Faced by University Students in Writing and Academic Stress and Psychological Well-Being: A Comparative Study of Working and Non-Working University Students, presented by Linaz Aso Asaad, Nadwa Nawzad Kharmala, Nehad Abdulla Omer, Razwan Abdalla Ahmed, Sozyar Azad Rasoll. Other projects examined learning diversity in Learning Styles of English BA Students at Cihan University-Erbil, presented by Nahal Zyad Antar, Sozyar Omer Rasul, Karzan Kamaran Ahmed, Shvan Azeez Othman, Zhyar Shwan Raswl. Also the conference focused on the cultural factors influencing academic performance in The Impact of Cultural Background Differences on Students’ Learning Outcome presented by Dunya Hassan Bayz, Mahmud Sahr Muhammed Rafaat, Rahaf Jalal Kareem. Also, Alaa Emad Ibrahim Ahmad, Israa Azad Salim Fatah, Meena Alaa Faisal Sarhed, Chra Hallo Asaad Khalid, Asma Aziz Fathullah Samin presented a graduation project entitled Integrating Technology in English Language Teaching: Challenges and Opportunities in the Modern Classrooms. These projects reflected the department’s strong emphasis on critical educational research, innovation, and student-centered learning.
Students from the Sport Sciences and Physical Education Department made significant contributions to the scientific conference by addressing key topics in fitness, health awareness, and risk management. Ahmed Emad Hashim presented Heart Rate Training Zones: A Smarter Way to Boost Performance, focusing on optimizing athletic training based on scientific heart rate monitoring. Meanwhile, Asren Karim, Daina Diyaree, and Sima Dara offered a comparative analysis of health awareness levels among education students in their study A Comparative Study on the Level of Health Awareness Among Students of the College of Education at Cihan University-Erbil. Muhsin Yasin Taifur and Saman Maghdid highlighted the importance of safety protocols in fitness environments through their research titled Implementation of Risk Management Practices among Members of Erbil Fitness Centers. Their contributions underscored the department’s commitment to promoting physical education, scientific training methods, and health consciousness.
