Cihan University-Erbil’s Participation in the First Iraqi Forum of Architectural Engineering Departments

Professor Dr. Rashed Hamed Yaseen, representing Cihan University–Erbil, participated in the first forum of architecture departments in Iraq, held at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, on October 21–22, 2025.

The forum featured a comprehensive program of celebratory activities, panel discussions, and academic debates focusing on architectural systems for teaching and learning. It also included extensive exhibitions showcasing the latest graduation projects from 27 architectural engineering departments representing public and private universities across Iraq. The Architectural Engineering Department of Cihan University–Erbil participated with two students’ graduation projects in the competition. Additionally, a special exhibition highlighted the works and influential architectural legacy of the late Iraqi architect Dr. Saher Al-Qaisi.

Among the main dialogue sessions was an engaging and inspiring discussion with pioneering architect Manhal Al-Haboubi, who shared his valuable insights on developing architectural identity and education in Iraq.

At the conclusion of the forum, Professor Dr. Rashed Hamed Yaseen, on behalf of the President of Cihan University–Erbil, received an appreciation award in recognition of the university’s valuable participation in this national academic event.
