College of Dentistry Participates in Erbil Street Festival to Promote Oral Health
On Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, 2026, the College of Dentistry actively participated in the Erbil Street Festival by providing dental consultations and raising public awareness about oral health.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Ninous Polus Philip, with the participation of a group of dedicated students. During the event, students offered preliminary dental examinations, consultations, and guidance on proper oral hygiene practices to the public. Roksan Hazhar Tofiq, a fourth-stage student, examined patients and diagnosed cases requiring tooth extraction, dental fillings for carious teeth, as well as scaling and polishing. She also examined a child who required a dental filling and provided preventive oral care instructions.
Additionally, Asma Shekhan Ahmad, a fourth-stage student, diagnosed a patient who required endodontic treatment along with a filling for carious teeth. Meanwhile, Dima Diyar Abdullah, a fourth-stage student, diagnosed a patient who required scaling and polishing, as well as a filling for carious teeth.
On the other hand, Akar Abubakr Mohamed, a fourth-stage student, diagnosed a patient who required tooth extraction as well as scaling and polishing. Ahmad Rizgar Ismail, also a fourth-stage student, diagnosed a patient who required tooth extraction and a partial denture. In addition, Mand Farhad Mohamad, a second-stage student, supported other students during patient examinations by conducting blood sugar tests for visitors.
To promote proper oral hygiene, the participating students distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to visitors. They also interacted with the public, providing guidance on correct brushing techniques and raising awareness about the importance of daily dental care and preventive oral health practices.
