Community Awareness Activity on Men’s Health Conducted by English Language Department Students
On Tuesday, November 18, a community awareness activity in recognition of Men’s Health Awareness Month was conducted at Dream City by second-stage students from the Department of English Language at Cihan University Erbil. The event was carried out under the supervision of Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohamad.
Informative brochures were distributed by the students, and key issues related to men’s health such as prostate health, mental well-being, cardiovascular risks, and the importance of routine medical screening were highlighted. The significance of early detection, healthy lifestyle practices, and awareness of preventable conditions affecting men was also emphasized.
Throughout the event, active engagement with locals and visitors was maintained. The rising need for regular screenings, open discussions about men’s well-being, and the reduction of stigma associated with seeking medical or psychological support were underscored. Families were encouraged to be supportive in helping male relatives prioritize their physical and mental health.
A meaningful contribution to public education was made through this campaign, as misconceptions about men’s health were addressed, healthier habits were promoted, and broader initiatives related to early intervention and disease prevention were reinforced.
