Dental Technology Department Students Explore CAD/CAM and Advanced Technologies at Masterpiece Dental Lab

First-year students from the Dental Technology Department at Cihan University conducted a scientific visit to Masterpiece Dental Lab on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Razan BurhanAldin Muhammad.

The students were received by the Laboratory Director, Dr. Samer Abdo. During the visit, they observed the practical steps involved in the fabrication of dental prostheses, including digital design, computer-aided manufacturing, and finishing procedures. They were introduced to state-of-the-art equipment such as digital scanners, milling machines, and advanced materials, as well as the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and quality during laboratory work.

Dr. Samer Abdo delivered a comprehensive explanation of the laboratory’s workflow, highlighting the essential stages of dental prosthetic production using modern digital systems. He also discussed the advantages of CAD/CAM technology in improving precision, reducing errors, and enhancing efficiency, while answering students’ questions and sharing practical insights from his professional experience.
