Department of Accounting Organizes a Scientific Visit to Newroz Bank in Erbil
On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the Department of Accounting organized a scientific field visit to Newroz Bank in Erbil for a group of second-year students under the supervision of Lecturer Rebin Bilal Mohammed.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Dler Qader Latif, Chief Executive Officer of Newroz Bank. He delivered an introductory overview of the bank’s vision, organizational structure, and the role of accounting systems in supporting banking operations and strategic decision-making.
The visit included a detailed presentation on the bank’s accounting system and financial operations, with a focus on the practical application of accounting principles within the banking sector. Ms. Rezhna Akram Sahid, Accounting Manager at Newroz Bank, provided an in-depth explanation of the daily accounting transaction cycle, including customer deposits and withdrawals, loan processing, installment collections, and inter-branch transactions.
She also explained how transactions are recorded through the core banking system, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, proper documentation, reconciliation procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with banking regulations. In addition, the students learned about account classification, cash balance reconciliation, preparation of daily transaction reports, and end-of-day financial summaries.
At the end of the visit, Lecturer Rebin Bilal Mohammed expressed sincere appreciation to Mr. Dler Qader Latif, Ms. Rezhna Akram Sahid, and the management and accounting staff of Newroz Bank for their warm reception and for providing practical knowledge that enriched the students’ academic and professional experience.
