Department of Anesthesia Techniques Hosts a Scientific Workshop on Common Abdominal Conditions and Modern Management Approaches
On Monday, December 15, 2025, the Department of Anesthesia Techniques at the College of Health Technologies – Cihan University–Erbil organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Common Abdominal Conditions and Recent Approaches to Management.”
The workshop was held under the supervision of the Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayad Hazim Hasan, and was attended by a distinguished group of heads of scientific departments, faculty members, and students from the Department of Anesthesia Techniques.
The workshop featured two specialized scientific sessions. The first session, entitled “Common Abdominal Surgical Conditions and Contemporary Surgical Management,” was delivered by Dr. Farman Yasin Sharif, a specialist in general surgery. In his presentation, Dr. Sharif reviewed the most common abdominal surgical conditions, highlighting clinical and radiological diagnostic approaches as well as the latest surgical management strategies in accordance with modern therapeutic protocols.
The second session, entitled “Recent Advances in Anesthetic Management of Abdominal Conditions,” was presented by Dr. Saman Hussein Abdulrahman, a specialist in pediatric surgery. His lecture focused on recent developments in anesthetic management, emphasizing pre-anesthetic patient evaluation, the selection of appropriate anesthetic techniques, and the role of advanced anesthesia technologies in minimizing complications and improving surgical outcomes.
At the end of the workshop, participants emphasized the importance of organizing such specialized scientific activities in supporting the academic process and strengthening interdisciplinary integration. They highlighted the role of these workshops in enhancing clinical knowledge, promoting collaboration among medical specialties, and showcasing the latest advances in the diagnosis and management of common abdominal conditions, with particular emphasis on modern surgical and anesthetic practices in contemporary medicine.
