Department of Architectural Engineering Organizes Scientific Field Visit to Empire Mena Company

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University–Erbil organized a scientific field visit for second-year students under the supervision of Lab Assistant Ms. Janain Rashid Abdulkarim. The visit took place at Empire Mena Company.

Mr. Qusay Ahmad Qawly, the owner of the company, received the students and provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s work and its role in executing architectural designs using specialized machinery and advanced equipment. He explained the workflow of transforming architectural concepts into physical models, beginning with design drawings and digital files and progressing through the stages of cutting, shaping, assembling, and final production.

During the visit, Mr. Qusay gave detailed explanations of the different sections of the factory and the function of each machine used in model production. He introduced the materials commonly used in architectural models, discussed their physical properties, and clarified the criteria for selecting appropriate materials based on design requirements. He also emphasized the importance of precision, organization, and quality control during execution, in addition to outlining the safety procedures that must be followed inside the laboratory.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of the facility, where students observed how architectural drawings and plans are transformed into tangible models. The session highlighted the importance of accuracy and attention to detail in producing professional architectural models.
