Department of English Students’ Educational Visit to Haval Bookstore
On Tuesday, 17th February 2026, fourth-stage students from the Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil visited Haval Bookstore under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Rozhin Hossein Hosseini. The students were warmly received by Mr. Shafie Mohammed Hasan and Ms. Rozhan Abdullah Razak, the bookstore staff, who guided them through the various sections and resources.
During the visit, students took part in a structured book exploration activity, selecting two English books one fiction and one non-fiction. In the fiction section, they explored novels, short stories, and poetry for pleasure reading, including classic literature and modern fiction to improve language skills and critical thinking. In the non-fiction section, they examined biographies, autobiographies, science, history, technology, and self-help books, broadening both their knowledge and personal development.
Students also explored German-language books as part of their language-learning practice, identifying vocabulary at easy, medium, and advanced levels. This comparative exercise reinforced their understanding of language complexity and helped them develop effective vocabulary-learning strategies for their German course.
This hands-on experience successfully connected classroom learning with real-world literary exploration, highlighting the importance of bookstores as academic resources and encouraging students to cultivate lifelong reading habits. At the end of the visit, the students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and the valuable learning they had received.
