Department of English Students Recite Patriotic Poems and Conduct Art Activity to Promote Patriotism at Cihan Institute
On Monday, 9 February 2026, first-stage students from the Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil conducted poem recitations titled ‘Love My Country’ and ‘My Country Is My Land’ at the Cihan Institute. The event was held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen and was warmly received by Mr. Hewa Mohamed Majeed, General Director of Cihan Group Institutes and Vocational College, and Mr. Mohammed Hassan Agha, Head of the Department of Business Administration, upon the students’ arrival.
During the session, the university students recited a patriotic poem expressing their love and pride for their country and land. While reciting, they also focused on key literary elements, including theme, tone, mood, imagery, sound devices, and symbolism, helping the school pupils appreciate not only the meaning but also the artistic qualities of the poem. After the recital, the students carefully explained the significance of each line, highlighting connections to love for the country, freedom, safety, and the hardships faced by the nation. The seminar also included an educational discussion about Kurdistan, emphasizing its history, achievements, and heritage.
The students then honored the Kurdistan flag through a creative finger-painting activity. Pupils took turns coloring the red, green, yellow, and white sections of the flag, symbolizing their love and pride for Kurdistan. During the activity, a patriotic song played in the background, enhancing the atmosphere of enthusiasm and national pride.
The activity concluded with all participants taking a group photo with the finger painting to commemorate the event at Cihan Institute.
