Department of Interior Design Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil Visit Jalil Al-Khayat Mosque in Erbil
On Monday, February 17, 2025, as part of its commitment to applied education, students from the Department of Interior Design Engineering at Cihan University-Erbil visited Jalil Al-Khayat Mosque in Erbil under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Aws Ahmed.
Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Salar Rashid, the Managing Director of the Mosque. The visit covered the mosque’s external areas, including gardens and annexes such as ablution areas, the courtyard, and the events hall, as well as the prayer hall. Students learned about the mosque’s architectural style and the design principles it follows, along with key interior elements such as the mihrab, pulpit, columns, arches, minarets, domes, and decorative details.
This visit was essential for students as they gathered fundamental data to support heritage Islamic projects, ensuring that important architectural and design elements are considered in Islamic project designs.
Such visits play a crucial role in bridging academic learning with real-world applications, providing future interior designers with valuable experience to enhance their creativity and design approach.
