Department of International Relations Hosts Joint Seminar with Kurdistan Parliament on Protocol and Parliamentary Relations
On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Cihan-Erbil University, under the supervision of Dr. Rashid Mikael Mohammed, organized a joint seminar in collaboration with the Department of International Relations and Protocol in the Kurdistan Parliament.
The seminar began with a speech by Dr. Rashid, who provided an insightful overview of the concept of protocol, its various types, and its historical development. He highlighted the differences between countries’ protocols and emphasized that each nation has its own unique set of guidelines.
Following this, Dr. Yassin Mahmoud, advisor to the Foreign Relations Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, presented an overview of the Parliament’s structure, which includes nineteen committees, notably the Parliamentary Relations Committee. He detailed the committee’s responsibilities and explained how it coordinates closely with the Parliament’s Protocol Department.
Dr. Briar, a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Board, then delivered a presentation on the Kurdistan Parliament’s international relations, focusing on its collaboration with parliaments around the world and its engagement with foreign consuls in the Kurdistan Region.
The seminar ended with an interactive session, where students from the Department of International Relations actively participated by asking questions and engaging with the speakers. Both Dr. Briar and Dr. Yassin responded to all inquiries, providing valuable insights and practical knowledge.
