Department of Law Qualifies for Next Stage with a 5–0 Victory

On Monday, February 2, 2026, the match was played as part of the second stage of the Internal Football League at Cihan University–Erbil. In the eleventh match of this stage, the Department of Law students’ team secured a convincing victory over the Department of Informatics and Software Engineering students’ team.

The Department of Informatics and Software Engineering team reached this match after qualifying through the draw (waiting round), where they faced the winner of the fifth match, the Department of Law team.

The first half witnessed a fast-paced game filled with attacking attempts from both sides, as each team sought an early goal and control of the match. Continuous attacks followed until the Department of Law team opened the scoring with a quick attacking move. Both teams continued to threaten each other’s goal, and a few minutes later, a Law Department forward scored a second goal with an outstanding individual effort, ending the first half with a 2–0 lead.

At the beginning of the second half, the Department of Informatics and Software Engineering team improved their performance and launched several dangerous attacks on the opponent’s goal. However, strong defensive organization, an excellent goalkeeping display, and, at times, the goalpost prevented them from scoring.

Meanwhile, the Department of Law attackers relied on effective counterattacks and capitalized on the opponent’s defensive advances, scoring the third, fourth, and fifth goals of the match.

As a result, the Department of Informatics and Software Engineering team lost hope of a comeback, and the match concluded with a 5–0 victory in favor of the Department of Law students’ team, who became the first team to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
