Department of Law Students Conduct Educational Visit to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Erbil
On Monday, February 16, 2026, the Department of Law at Cihan University–Erbil organized a field visit for fifth-stage students to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Erbil under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Ali Salim Nouri Beg. The delegation was received by Dr. Faisal Arab, a specialist in forensic medicine, who delivered an insightful seminar on the pivotal role of forensic science in resolving criminal cases.
The seminar professionally addressed the mechanisms of cadaver examination and the analysis of various injuries, such as wounds, burns, and other forms of criminal evidence. Dr. Faisal also provided a detailed explanation of the role forensic medicine plays in assessing disability rates and determining the age of unidentified individuals. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of laboratory analysis in identification processes, leading to the critical stage of drafting and issuing official forensic medical reports, which the judiciary relies upon as conclusive technical evidence once investigations are complete. During the visit, students were given the opportunity to tour the institute’s various departments to observe its operational procedures firsthand.
At the conclusion of the visit, Dr. Ali Salim Nouri Beg and the fifth-stage students expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the management of the Institute of Forensic Medicine and to Dr. Faisal Arab for their warm reception. They commended the institute’s significant efforts in enriching students’ knowledge and providing comprehensive explanations that bridge the gap between legal theory and applied medical practice, thereby enhancing their understanding of criminal justice mechanisms.
