Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Organizes Workshop on Kidney Health and Renal Diseases
On Monday, February 2, 2026, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics organized a workshop titled ‘Raising Awareness of Kidney Health and Renal Diseases’, held at VIP Hall. The event aimed to strengthen health awareness by providing key medical information about kidney function and the early signs of renal disorders.
The workshop began with a welcoming speech from the Department, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early detection. Prof. Dr. Safa Ezzidin Almukhtar delivered an introductory lecture on the kidneys and nephrology, explaining their essential roles in filtration, fluid balance, and overall body regulation. He highlighted that many kidney problems can develop silently, making regular check-ups and awareness crucial.
In another presentation, Dr. Mohammed Salar Nasih explained the differences between acute and chronic kidney disease, focusing on common causes, risk factors, and practical guidance for recognizing early progression and preventing complications. The program also included a session by Dr. Bayar Jazza Bakr on nephrotic syndromes, outlining their main characteristics and emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis and continuous follow-up to preserve kidney function.
The workshop ended with an interactive discussion and Q&A session, allowing participants to engage with the presenters, share perspectives, and reinforce key messages about kidney health and renal disease awareness.
