Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Conducts Awareness Activity on AI and Smart Prosthetics
On Wednesday, 25 February 2026, first-year students organized an awareness activity at Al-Nahrain High School for Girls entitled ‘Artificial Intelligence and Smart Prosthetics: Empowering Individuals with Disabilities,’ under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Omar Adil Mohammed Ali, Head of the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies.
The school principal, Ms. Josephine Estefan Mansour, warmly received the students and expressed her appreciation for the initiative. She emphasized the importance of such scientific activities in raising students’ awareness and enhancing their knowledge of modern technologies.
The activity began with student Huda Iyad, who delivered a clear and simplified explanation of artificial intelligence and its applications in the medical field, particularly in the development of smart prosthetic limbs. She stressed that employing modern technologies to support individuals with disabilities contributes to achieving this global humanitarian objective.
Student Fatima Burhan then discussed smart prosthetics and their role in empowering individuals with disabilities. She highlighted the humanitarian and social impact of these technologies in promoting independence and improving quality of life. She also presented practical examples demonstrating how technological advancements facilitate the integration of individuals with disabilities into society and enable them to perform daily activities with greater confidence.
The activity created an interactive environment in which students engaged in discussions, asked questions, and shared their perspectives on the future of technology in serving humanity.
At the end of the session, Ms. Josephine Estefan Mansour expressed her sincere gratitude to the Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies and to the students, Huda Iyad and Fatima Burhan, for their outstanding efforts. She affirmed that such initiatives play a significant role in spreading scientific awareness and strengthening students’ sense of social responsibility.
