DEPARTMENT OF TRANSLATION CARRIED OUT A CULTURAL HERITAGE ACTIVITY FOR ITS STUDENTS

The sophomores and juniors in the Department of Translation at Cihan University-Erbil held an extra-curricular activity entitled “Cultural Heritage as the Title of Life” on Sunday, 16 October 2022 in the garden of the university`s Cultural Center. The Lecturer, Mr. Imadin Maged Zannrni, organized and supervised the activity.

The participating students read poems in Kurdish, Arabic, and English that respectively represent Kurdistan, Iraq, and England`s cultural heritage. Students also played the lute, and some students excelled over others in playing and singing folklore songs. The main goal of the activity was to make students familiar with the nations` cultures, folklore, traditions, and similarities between them.

These activities help translation students to bridge the cultural gaps when they translate between English and the local languages. The Translation Department at Cihan University-Erbil has always been concerned with similar extra-curricular activities to achieve the best academic results by international standards.
